Question:
Can I interview two different Realtors from the same
home office?
Answer:
Sure. In most cases, it isn't the company or office
that supplies you with the service that makes you
feel well taken care of. It is the agent. The
agent does all the hustling around, the research,
previewing properties, guiding you through the
closing process, and so on. In most cases, the
office performs quality control checks and acts
mostly behind the scenes.

Question:
I've been working with a Realtor for nine months and
have bought five properties. Recently, I looked at
a place with my Realtor and was excited about buying
it. I signed a blank purchase form and the agent
verbally negotiated all kinds of details with the
seller, filling in the form with things that I never
considered and without checking with me. When I got
my copy, I freaked out and cancelled. The agent went
off on me, saying I was ruining her reputation.
Don't I have the right to cancel?
Answer:
In this case you do. Never, ever, ever, sign ANY
blank document even if you do have an established
relationship with the agent. It becomes too easy
for an agent to assume they know what you want and
for you to assume the agent will do what you want.
Contracts are meant to be signed AFTER they are
filled out. If they agent can't get the deal
cancelled, talk to the broker in charge of the
office, explaining that you filled out a blank
contract. That should stop the deal in its tracks.
(This is NOT legal advice. For that, you need to
contact an attorney). |
